The AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants)

The AICPA is the preeminent accounting association in the United States and has been the voice of the accounting profession for decades. It sets ethical standards for the profession and U.S. auditing standards for audits of private companies, non-profit organizations, and federal, state, and local governments. It also develops and grades the Uniform CPA Examination. Through our affiliation with the AICPA, our professionals have access to accounting resources, information, research, and training – all of which are critical to the success of our firm.

In conjunction with our AICPA membership, we elect to be subject to periodic inspection by the AICPA Peer Review Program. Once every three years, a “peer review” of our accounting and auditing practice is conducted by an independent evaluator, who is approved by the AICPA to perform this role. The peer review helps to monitor a CPA firm’s accounting and auditing practice. The AICPA program itself is to promote quality in the accounting and auditing services provided by the AICPA members and their CPA firms.

The PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board)

The PCAOB is a private sector, nonprofit corporation, created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, to oversee the auditors of public companies, hedge funds, and broker-dealers in order to protect the interest of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports. Our affiliation with the PCAOB provides us with critical guidance and resources for working with our clients. As a CPA firm that audits companies under the PCOAB’s oversight, we are subject to their periodic inspection. With this inspection, the PCAOB assesses compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the rules of the PCAOB, the rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and professional standards, in connection with the firm’s performance of audits, issuance of audit reports, and related matters.
