Affiliations & Memberships

In this rapidly changing regulatory landscape, staying abreast of current best practices is crucial for serving our clients in the most effective way possible.

We have developed our own formal quality control practices and procedures that meet the most stringent professional standards. We provide in-house training and seminars, and many of our partners and staff members have obtained advanced degrees in such fields as law, taxation, and finance. In addition, to maintain our standing within the profession, we hold memberships in, or have opted to be regulated by and subject to periodic inspection from, key industry organizations, including:

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)

The AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants)

The AICPA is the preeminent accounting association in the United States and has been the voice of the accounting profession for decades. It sets ethical standards for the profession and U.S. auditing standards for audits of private companies, non-profit organizations, and federal, state, and local governments. It also develops and grades the Uniform CPA Examination. Through our affiliation with the AICPA, our professionals have access to accounting resources, information, research, and training – all of which are critical to the success of our firm.

In conjunction with our AICPA membership, we elect to be subject to periodic inspection by the AICPA Peer Review Program. Once every three years, a “peer review” of our accounting and auditing practice is conducted by an independent evaluator, who is approved by the AICPA to perform this role. The peer review helps to monitor a CPA firm’s accounting and auditing practice. The AICPA program itself is to promote quality in the accounting and auditing services provided by the AICPA members and their CPA firms.

Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB)

The PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board)

The PCAOB is a private sector, nonprofit corporation, created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, to oversee the auditors of public companies, hedge funds, and broker-dealers in order to protect the interest of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports. Our affiliation with the PCAOB provides us with critical guidance and resources for working with our clients. As a CPA firm that audits companies under the PCOAB’s oversight, we are subject to their periodic inspection. With this inspection, the PCAOB assesses compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the rules of the PCAOB, the rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and professional standards, in connection with the firm’s performance of audits, issuance of audit reports, and related matters.

New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA)

The NYSSCPA (New York State Society of CPAs)

Through its many local chapters, the NYSSCPA offers continuing education courses, professional conferences, and committee meetings to promote knowledge and information exchange in the public accounting industry.
